5 Minute Productivity Reset

This Five Minute Miracle Can Reset Your Productivity

Lost sight of your top priorities?  Especially when you don't feel like you have 5 minutes to spare, but you need to be more effective with your time and reorient yourself to your priorities - try this easy practice.

It is too easy to temporarily "forget" your top priorities when when you have too much to do.  It's as though they get lost in the to do pile while you're stuck in a mode of trying to get everything done.

One of the best habits to adopt is to step back periodically and check back in with your plan.  Otherwise, you'll lose productivity, partly due to working on the wrong things.  Or you may be wasting time when you're not sure what to work on when you find yourself with a chunk of time, such as between appointments.

First, let's check in on a related topic: it's important to acknowledge that you do not have to be perfectly productive all the time, and you should definitely plan in some breathing time during your workday, and downtime away from your work too.

For those times when you do want to be more mindful of top priorities and enhance your productivity, here's a simple practice I use myself and recommend to clients:

This 5-minute break can get you back on track, so you're using time more effectively!
  • Anytime throughout the day if you're not feeling as productive as you'd like
  • At the beginning of each day to ensure you work on what matters
  • Midweek if  you're losing sight of top priorities
  • Weekly during your planning session

When you're feeling too busy and not productive enough, try this 5-minute miracle reset to keep priorities in focus.
